Travel Diary: Arriving in the Amalfi Coast & First Impressions

First glimpse of Positano

Hi everybody!

After a long morning of traveling, I landed in Naples. I quickly hopped on the transport waiting for me and looked out the windows at the beautiful sites of Naples. As Dean Martin's "That's Amore" played in the car, the driver started to head up the mountains. As he quickly weaved around curves on the narrow roads, I looked put the window and saw nothing but a thin railing and sea. So, let's just say these drivers were very talented. He stopped along the way, so I could buy a lemon ice (the Amalfi Coast has world-famous lemons) and take some photos. The view was spectacular, especially when he rounded the corner and I got my first glimpse of Positano. It's everything I imagined it would be and much more! The white/colorful buildings scattered about the green mountain, the bougainvilleas placed on nearly every building, the coastline filled with content tourists, etc. I was shocked that such a place existed!
Upon arriving, I immediately was attracted to the beach vibe. All the tourists were either already drenched from the sea or heading to the beach with towels and trinkets in hand. I also noticed that there were many, many stairs. Let's just say that to get to my apartment alone, I had to climb 150 steps... I definitely got a good leg workout while in Positano. :)
Overall, my first impressions were of awe and wonder. It was a magical far-off land with an aura of relaxation.

Thank you so much for reading!

Stay beautiful,

Sofia
